ProgettoMondo Mlal, established in 1966 with headquarters in Verona, is a non-governmental organization (NGO) for international cooperation which promotes Development Programmes by sending aid workers to Latin America and Africa and providing the support of groups of volunteers in Italy.
ProgettoMondo Mlal has always been active in the protection of human rights, and since 2011 it has decided to devote its Programmes primarily to the psychophysical, cultural and social development of children, adolescents and young people from vulnerable social groups in Latin America and Africa, so that, given new opportunities and adequate forms of support, they may become instrumental in promoting their own growth and the development of their communities.
The aim is to ensure that young people have sufficient food for their development; access to schools and continuity of education; vocational training and help with starting work or becoming self-employed; to support social protection measures for particularly high risk groups; and in general to foster the participation of young people in the cultural, social and political life of the community.
Initiatives and support structures are always built in collaboration with local partners, in a joint effort both in strategic terms and in the development of individual activities, aimed at promoting processes for development and the fight against poverty.
The common denominator in the more than 330 projects either completed or currently under way in 22 countries, with approximately 880 aid workers sent abroad over a 45-year period, is the provision of training for local personnel and the creation of a network of relations which is a guarantee of sustainability.
In Italy, ProgettoMondo Mlal promotes meetings and exchanges between different cultures, through information activities and peace and development education organized in training programmes, meetings, seminars, solidarity campaigns and school camps, with the aim of involving civil society in general, communities, associations and schools.
All this activity is possible thanks to the commitment of the ProgettoMondo Mlal groups on the territory, the support of private individuals, and contributions from local and international bodies wishing to add a new form of solidarity to their image as good administrators.
Since 1972 ProgettoMondo Mlal has been recognized by the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs as qualified
to conduct Development Programmes (Law no. 49, 1987).
It is a member of the Italian Federation of Christian International Voluntary Service Organizations (Focsiv).
